In an industry searching for authenticity and soul, one voice rises from the heart of Brooklyn, New York, with undeniable passion and talent—Daylite. A multifaceted artist—singer, songwriter, producer, rapper, and entertainer—Daylite is bringing back the core essence of real
R&B, fusing it seamlessly with hip-hop influences and his unique sound. We sat down with the rising star to talk about his journey, his inspirations, and where he’s headed next.
—
West American Magazine (WAM): Let’s start at the beginning. What first inspired you to pursue music?
Daylite: Music was always around me. I started singing in church as a kid, and that’s where I found the love for using my voice to touch people. It was more than just a performance—it was spiritual. Then, I started studying legends like Michael Jackson, Prince, Bobby Brown,
Ginuwine, Usher, and lyricists like 2Pac, Biggie, Nas, Jadakiss, and Fabolous. They inspired me to dig deeper—not just into sound, but into storytelling and emotion.
—
WAM: At what age did you start creating your own music?
Daylite: I started writing songs at 13. That’s when I really took it seriously. I was just a kid with a notebook and big dreams, but I was determined to master the craft. It wasn’t just about rhyming or singing—it was about how a song could make people feel. That feeling became my obsession. I wanted to create music that moved people.
—
WAM: How would you describe your sound today?
Daylite: Soulful, honest, and timeless. It’s real R&B with a fresh twist. I blend smooth vocals with hard-hitting production and raw lyrics. Think the vulnerability of Usher with the confidence of 2Pac. It’s feel-good music, but also thought-provoking. I want listeners to connect with my story and feel empowered through my sound.

—WAM: What do you think the R&B genre is missing today, and how do you plan to change that?
Daylite: It’s missing soul. A lot of R&B today is surface-level—it lacks the emotional depth that made the genre iconic. I’m here to bring that back. My mission is to uplift and inspire people through real, soulful music. I want my music to be a sanctuary for people going through it, celebrating love, or finding their own voice.
—
WAM: Tell us about your creative process. How do you approach writing and producing music?
Daylite: It always starts with a feeling. Sometimes it’s a beat I produce, other times it’s a melody that pops in my head while walking through Brooklyn. Once I catch the vibe, I dive into the lyrics. I don’t chase trends—I chase truth. I want every track to be a reflection of where I am emotionally or spiritually. My process is about capturing moments.
—
WAM: What’s next for Daylite? What can fans—and the industry—expect?
Daylite: Growth. More music. I’m working on a project that’s going to elevate my sound and reach. I want to tour, touch stages around the world, and bring back that live R&B experience. I’m also focused on collaborating with other artists and producers who share the same passion for soulful music. And ultimately, I want to sign with a major label that believes in the vision—not just the image.
—
WAM: What message do you want to leave with your fans and industry execs reading this?
Daylite: R&B isn’t dead—it just needs more light. And I’m that light. I’m here to remind people that music still has the power to heal, to motivate, and to connect. I’m not chasing fame—I’m chasing legacy.
